Tokoriki Island Resort Fiji

Tokoriki island in Fiji is the perfect tropical destination for a nature sojourn with your lover, family, friends, or a well deserved solo retreat. I visited this island paradise with my husband and my parents for seven days of pure bliss. We stayed at Tokoriki Island Resort, one of two resorts located on this small tropical island. Click here for video footage of our blissful Fijian escapades.

We flew to Fiji after visiting family in Australia. If you have the freedom in your itinerary and your life situation is permitting, we’d recommend pairing this holiday with a New Zealand and/or Australian adventure. If you are ready to make the journey to this sector of the globe, why not stop and look around; give yourself permission to soak up the rich offerings of Mother Earth. The pictures showcased in this blog post are indicative of the tempo of our stay: beaching all day, everyday. While this gorgeous resort offered a short trail walk up to a panoramic viewing platform to stretch your legs and take in the vistas of the surrounding turquoise waters and nearby islands, most of our action took place at sea. Daily snorkelling trips, paddle-boarding, kayaking, and swimming extravaganzas were on the roster from sunrise to sunset. While snorkelling we saw several reef sharks, turtles and stingrays, as well as myriad fish and colourful coral.

Included in our stay were daily massages, a boat trip to a private island for a romantic picnic, stories with the locals about cultural traditions and the significance of the land, and a whole lot of fun. The chefs went above and beyond to provide wholesome vegan degustations inspired by local and fusion cuisines. We loved bringing fresh coconuts from our garden to the kitchen for the chefs to crack open so we could enjoy hydrating coconut water at mealtime. One of our highlights that made Tokoriki Island Resort so special was the live acoustics we had the pleasure of enjoying at lunch and dinner time thanks to the talented Fijian musicians.

The accommodation was brilliant. My husband and I shared a beach Bure, Fijian for home, with private access to the beautiful white sand beach. Next door was my parent’s villa with a private plunge pool. We were graced with lush gardens adorned with hammocks and deck chairs to soak up the melodies of Tokoriki. Another noteworthy feature of our travels was arriving and departing Tokoriki island via helicopter. The views of the crystal clear waters, coral reefs, and scattered islands of Fiji were truly unparalleled. The helipad also proved a peaceful abode for early morning yoga and pilates practices, courtesy of the mats provided by the resort.

Possibly the most noteworthy element of our stay at this resort was the emphasis on being present and connected loved ones and nature. The Resort was structured so that our villas had neither internet nor televisions so that we could truly appreciate the magnificence of the life unfolding around us. For those who were adamant on using there digital devices, you could still use the internet at a community space near the main lobby. My husband and I decided to go the whole week without internet and it was a brilliant idea.

Being in the presence of such lush greenery, tropical flowers, warmth, and abounding sunshine was a sure-fire way to nourish the soul, return to peace, and honour our wellbeing. By the end of our stay we were feeling refreshed and grateful, ready to return to city life in the spirit of love and tranquility gifted to us by the beautiful souls and scenery of Tokoriki Island.
